Day 2 of my Dry January experiment. I am not alone in doing this Dry January and am seeing *a lot* being published right now on the topic, for example this article where a doctor explains what can happen to heavy drinkers if they stop drinking suddenly. I don’t think this applies to me but will keep an eye out for any mood or physical changes.
As part of this whole thing, I am trying to pay close attention to triggers for drinking and situations that make me want to drink. Today we went out birding, a favorite activity and a great way to start the new year. Below is a photo of the lovely Ash-Throated Flycatcher who should be out West somewhere (or maybe Mexico, where I’ve seen it before) but who has found its way to the NE Philly Water Treatment Plant. Birding, which involves being outdoors often for a long time is definitely a trigger to drink! Nothing like a refreshing beer after a day outdoors and taking the chance to review the day’s sightings with a fellow birder.
But, fighting a cold these few days, I just don’t feel much like drinking. So, easy day to abstain. I’ll take it!
